Bin Laden Found!

In February a UCLA college professor, ironically using a technique for locating the habitat of endangered species, claims to have identified bin Laden’s hide out with 90% certainty.
It begs a couple of questions:
a) why is it left to a college professor to do this analysis;
b) if the security services ever followed up on his lead … and why have we heard nothing more?
